Native American Inspired Wool Blankets Honoring Our Armed Forces & Others We Love
photos: Amy Jones

I know it's 100º outside, but blanket weather is right around the corner. I found these colorful works of art in Joseph's Dept Store in Havre de Grace. Made by the Pendleton Company, which has been making blanlets for over 140 years, these lightweight, luxurious 100% pure virgin wool textiles are perfect for a bed spread or throw for the couch. Everyone loves a good blanket, but the Pendleton Tribute Series is something really special. The "Grateful Nation" blanket for example, is a tribute to America's milatary men and women. Traditional navy, red and white are combined with gold to create a familiar, yet completely new design. Other blanket themes are "Celebrate the Horse", "Creation Turtle" and the "Shared Spirits". These will make great personal gifts at the holidays. Stop in Jospeh's Department Store and check them out!

Vintage door knobs & other salvaged architectural elements repurposed into wine stoppers - Tres chic!

I found these little gems at Coffee Coffee in Festival and fell in love with them immediately. The bottle stoppers are all handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee from vintage finds.  Their designs include everything from original vintage doorknob bottle stoppers to vintage billiard ball stoppers to bottle stoppers that hold candles. Each piece is unique and guaranteed for a lifetime. Knobstoppers incorporates all types of antique door knobs giving them a clever vintage look. Since all the antique door knobs are found at flea markets and antique stores, no Knobstopper is ever the same.  Did I mention that most Knobstoppers sell for under $40?  Add affordability as just one more reason to buy one.
